The distillery Lillehammer Brænderi was established in 1847, and in 1852 the operation was expanded to beer brewing. Drinking habits had changed in the 1840s, and people consumed more beer and less liquor. The brewery at Lillehammer closed down in 1983, but reopened as the microbrewery Lillehammer Mikrobryggeri in 2006. 

The brewery offers a taste of Lillehammer through its own beer, food based on local produce, and an insight into Lillehammer’s history. Beer tasting together with storytelling and the wonderful flavours of locally produced food come highly recommended!

Lillehammer Mikrobryggeri offers food and drink experiences in an environment reflecting the town’s cultural and industrial history. An area we are particularly passionate about is the advancement and development of industry along the Mesna river. The river, which flows through the heart of the town, has long been the lifeblood of the local community.
