Hindsæter is a small historic wooden hotel from 1898, set in beautiful natural surroundings in Jotunheimen. Located close to Besseggen/Gjende along the National Scenic Route Valdresflye, and at 950 m above sea level, the hotel offers panoramic views over the Sjoa river, Sjodalen valley, and Jotunheimen National Park.

Its hosts, André and Karola, have created a genuine mountain-farm atmosphere and offer culinary experiences and excellent storytelling. The food from our kitchen is authentic, and is based on fresh, healthy, and sustainable produce.

Our main ingredient is meat from domestic reindeer grazing close to Hindsæter for most of the year. We also use meats from an old local cattle breed, Urfe, which is kept outdoors during the summer season. Old Norwegian Sheep, trout from crystal-clear mountain lakes, goats from local farms, and seafood from the coast are other sustainable resources forming part of our culinary heritage. Hindsæter has been awarded Innovation Norway’s seal of approval as a high-quality Norwegian restaurant.

In summer, there is a vast choice of long and short hikes right on the doorstep. In winter, there are cross-country ski trail and snowshoe tracks leading to the Jotunheimen peaks.
