Jevne Gård

+47 977 57510
From late June to late August, Jevne Gård has a summer café serving home-baked cakes, quality coffee, and the farm’s own rhubarb and redcurrant juice (open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays).
Eldhuset is the farm’s oldest building, and was restored in the early 2000s. Built over three floors, the ground floor was used for baking and to prepare meat in wood-fired ovens. The magnificent baker’s oven is still used to make special bakery products such as the traditional bread “Jevnekaku”.
Erling Jevne and Inger-Lise Sæterbakken are the 13th generation hosts, and uses traditional techniques when working the forest and cultivating the land. Among their crops are grass and potatoes, and in the barn are both sheep and pigs. Products from the farm are available for purchase, but must be ordered from Erling and Inger-Lise in advance. The large garden provides redcurrants, blackcurrants, rhubarb, plums, rowan berries, and apples. Among the products made are redcurrant, rhubarb, and apple juice along with various types of jam. New this year is Jerusalem artichoke.
Lamb and potatoes
Jevne offers whole and half lambs for sale, which are cut and packed as per the customer’s requirements. The animals have enjoyed a good life at Jevne and at its mountain farm innermost in the Åstdalen valley. Potatoes of the Peik variety are hand-picked. Bakery and food products as well as potatoes are sold in bags of 3 to 25 kg. Jevnekaku is baked in a wood-fired oven in Eldhuset.
The historic Jevne Gård is in a beautifully location by lake Lågen in Øyer. Many of its old buildings date back to the early 1700s, and the farm comprises a main farmhouse along with a dwelling, a brewhouse, a courthouse, and two storehouses. Jevne served as the district sheriff’s residence for five generations.
